If you are walking through a gaming store and you come across a cover with Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady on the front, you know the disc inside has some gnarly content just waiting to be played. Arriving on the 30th of August is Madden NFL 2022, EA’s latest iteration of the official American Football game, following in similar (but not identical) footsteps to its modern FIFA, UFC and Formula One counterparts in its variety of gaming modes. Many of the games’ best aspects remain, Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis being two examples, yet there are many features arriving afresh in Madden NFL 22.
Escape from the Underworld: Hades Comes To PlayStation & Xbox

If you have heard of Supergiant Games, the chances are you think highly of them, and for good reason; Pyre, Bastion, Transistor and now, as of September of 2020, Hades. Although out for reasons pertaining to user feedback and such for almost two years prior, the official release of Hades resulted in a total of over a million sales worldwide, and that was just for the Switch and the PC! In a few days’ time, August 13th to be precise, Hades comes to the ninth-generation consoles: the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5. Hades is the product of a laser-focusing of resources from Supergiant Games, resulting in a title that has quickly become a reverential genre-favourite. A game you can simply pick up and play time and time again, taking up only 5.7GB on the Switch, meaning that Hades will be one of those games that will comfortably slot in between larger titles on the consoles. Despite its small size, Hades is a rogue-like game that is worth every bit, quite literally, of data it reserves.
Where George Orwell Meets Blade Runner: Observer System Redux

It is astonishing how much can change within the space of four or five years, the Observer System Redux game is an underrated example of just how much the gaming community has moved forward in its technological capabilities. Observer, a game that was widely celebrated in 2017, has today been thoroughly outclassed by its remastered version, Bloober Studio’s Observer System Redux, a rendition taking full advantage of the PlayStation and Xbox’s hosting technologies. The term redux, or remaster or even remake, is sometimes thrown around without necessarily carrying the weight it really should; Observer System Redux is a publication that absolutely deserves the title of a remaster for it looks and feels spectacularly different to its unadorned sibling. I feel as though you need to see tis for yourself, so be sure to check out this superb YouTube video detailing the extent of enhancement the game has received – I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Competing with the finest games of the time, OSR offers Raytracing support, 4K textures which look absolutely magnificent when light rays travel through swirling dust or dormant smoke, as well as a mostly unwavering 60FPS.
The Beautiful Game Returns: FIFA 22.

Football is coming home! OK, it didn’t come home in the way English fans thought it would, but it is coming home in some way, and it does so on 1st of October: the day that marks the release of FIFA 22. Exciting as the new release is, I am a little crestfallen that I have to say goodbye to my Ultimate Team. So long fellas, nice knowing you. Just one of those things, trying not to think about it. As the new season approaches, Ben White is now securing the back four at Arsenal, Varane and Sancho have joined Manchester United and Daka is set to overtake Jamie Vardy as the attacking flair of Leicester. Manchester City are about to spend £260 million on England duo Jack Grealish and Harry Kane; it will be a very interesting season in the Premier League - FIFA 22 cannot come soon enough.
