Neo: The World Ends With You - The JARPG With A Cult Following

Joel GunnerAug 2, '21

It’s 2007 and it’s a hot weekend in August. Too hot, perhaps - go indoors, pick up our beloved Nintendo DS and boot up the game everyone seems to be talking about: The World Ends With You. 14 years later we find ourselves apparently juxtaposed into an identical future: it’s a hot weekend in August and we seek some shade, only now we can get stuck into the sequel of the game we have loved for all of these years: Neo: The World Ends With You, a publication arising from a co-op venture between Square Enix and h.a.n.d. Neo, like it’s 2007 forerunner, is an action role-play urban fantasy title, only it has now been designed in 3D to run on the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation consoles rather than 2D on the DS.

A Hauntingly Brilliant Game: The Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut

Joel GunnerJul 30, '21

It is not often that you could describe a game as breath-taking and sincerely mean it in every sense of the word, yet even the term breath-taking might be an understatement for Suckerpunch’s Ghost of Tsushima publication. A game I would compare in quality to that of the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Ghost of Tsushima celebrated its first birthday a week or so back, and perhaps the greatest gift it received was the utter lack of criticism it has garnered during its lifespan. Sure, some people will find something wrong with the PlayStation exclusive title, but many of those disapproving comments are often tenuous in nature. The vast majority, on the other hand, are in the same boat as me – they absolutely love this game, and for those who idolose the game I have good news: a tantalising Director’s Cut of the game is set to arrive on the 20th August 2021! How Does The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Interlink Our Past And Present?

Joel GunnerJul 28, '21

The naming of The Legend of Zelda series was an extremely prudent move for it describes what the series was set to become in popular culture: legendary. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘Zelda’? The classic graphics? The weeks-long romance with the game? Maybe the compelling story-telling? Perhaps if you were younger the memories were of coming home from school and having an orange squash fuelled Zelda session before having chicken nuggets and chips for dinner? Ah, the memories.

A Game In Pole Position: Codemasters' F1 2021 Official Racing Title

Joel GunnerJul 26, '21

Following this year’s eventful COVID-impeded Formula 1 season comes Codemaster’s annual virtual racing release: F1 2021. Released on July 16th, the 7th instalment of Codemaster’s Ego 4.0 Game Engine looks to mount the Apex of the rapidly turning gaming industry, leaving tyres screeching and a cloud of smoke in its wake: F1 2021 is not a title that veers off course, nor is it one that tears down the straight quietly. Though F1 2021, being the 7th product of the Ego engine to date, might play in a similar fashion to F1 2020, the people at Codemasters have integrated fantastically enhanced visuals perhaps to make up for the lack of novelty in the game’s physics, pushing brilliant graphic fidelity capable of emulating various tracks to an astonishing degree. This racing season was frequently forced to take a pit-stop due to COVID, yet F1 2021 digitally rewrites history, no courses have to be adjourned, no social distancing protocols to be seen: a chance for race fanatics to start the season anew.
