A Console With Benefits In Excess: The Xbox Series X|S

Joel GunnerJul 16, '21

From ripping up Call of Duty: Black Ops Team Deathmatches on the Xbox 360, to exploring the vast world of Tamriel through the revered Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim title via the Xbox One, the Xbox series has been a constant feature within my own gaming life, along with millions of others, and many of us have always been delighted with their performance. As of late, I thought I was happy with my Xbox One, but then disaster struck: I had a cheeky go on the Xbox Series X. The only way I can describe this experience is in the way of cars: it was like I had been driving a BMW for years, I was happy with the car, it performed perfectly and gave me quite the ride whilst travelling from A to B, but then I got to test drive a Lamborghini. Whilst both great cars in their own right, once you taste the speed of the latter, the former, despite its familiarity and consistency, might end up seeming a bit languid.

Many of us recognise that consoles are going short without fully understanding why, and where we know the why we might know more about the how regarding the remediation of this situation. This article should tell you all you need to know about the transpiring events.

The Crescendo of Nintendo? A Tour Of The Nintendo Switch And Related Accessories

I still remember my first gaming experience back in the Summer of 2004. I was in the back of my parents car driving around the British coastline, playing Need For Speed on my two-button Nintendo Gameboy Advance – I was happy as Larry. A decade and a bit later, on March 3rd 2017, the long awaited Nintendo Switch came out; a device that, compared to the Advance, was ironically far, far more advanced and sophisticated. As I write this today, over 85 million of us have bought a Nintendo Switch; one of the most popular machines of its kind. I hadn’t played with a handheld gaming console since my Gameboy saga, so when I picked up the Switch for the first time I was just gobsmacked, blown away by the prowess of this device – I was playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt whilst at the dinner table. It didn’t feel quite real.

For the die-hard Ratchet and Clank fans, the ending of the 2013 Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus title left a panoply of questions. What is happening with the Dimensionator? Where are the galactic duo headed next? Is Ratchet closer to finding his estranged Lombax community? Where is Dr Nefarious hiding? The people down at Insomniac Games have heard your questions and have decided to devise a tantalising answer in the form of a gorgeous multidimensional sojourn: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
